Challenge
Like most associations, AOA ran a fragmented stack: a CMS for the public site, a separate system for members, and bolt-ons for events, communications and reporting. The result was duplicated member records, inconsistent data, a disjointed member experience, and reporting that took too long.
Solution
Avion delivered an integrated platform on Sitefinity + Avalon — keeping the content flexibility of Sitefinity while moving membership, identity and data onto the Avalon fabric:
Member CRM on Avalon — every member is one governed record, not a copy spread across tools.
Member portal & intranet — self-service for members and staff, behind one secure sign-on.
Public website on Sitefinity — the marketing/content surface, integrated to the same member data.
Integration to association systems (e.g. TIMS) — so existing investments keep working.
How it works (built on Avalon)
Because membership, identity and data live on Avalon, the pieces that are normally fragile integrations are simply part of the platform: one sign-on (Certified OpenID Provider), one member record, one audit trail, and one place to ask questions of the data with Ava. New capability — events, CPD/training, member support — extends the same fabric rather than adding another silo.
+ Avalon
"We needed our website, our members and our data to finally speak the same language — on a platform we could trust."
Results
A single source of truth for members — no more reconciling copies across systems.
A modern member portal and intranet behind one secure identity.
A content platform (Sitefinity) and member data (Avalon) that stay in sync.
A foundation that extends to events, CPD/training, support and analytics without re-platforming.
What's next
The same fabric supports the natural expansion path for any association: CPD/training with Workforce Management, member support with Service Management, and plain-English member analytics with Ava — each added to the platform AOA already runs.
